SCAMPOLI DELL’ESTATE

Sistemando le foto rimaste sulla macchina fotografica, ne ho trovato una serie fatta all’inizio di luglio quando stavo al mare e avevo iniziato uno scialle al telaio. Poi lo scialle è terminato  e rimasto lì ad aspettare le frange e il lavaggio che ho fatto qualche settimana fa…. un lavoro a rate per così dire, e tra l’altro non sono riuscita a fare foto dello scialle indossato, perchè la pancia è davvero troppo ingombrante per riuscire a fare un buon autoscatto, e soprattutto perchè quando ho un “fotografo volontario” a disposizione inevitabilmente mi svanisco di chiedergli  questo favore.

Comunque la carrellata inizia con il montaggio dell’ordito sul telaio, un po’ ingegnandomi tra la spalliera di una panchina e il tavolo:

Poi ho iniziato il tessuto impiegando uno dei miei primi filati, ricordo che avevo mischiato lane cardate di diversi colori a mano perchè non avevo ancora le spazzole per cardare!

Per metà poi il filato era stato usato per una sciarpa ormai venduta da tempo e ora eccolo  in un altra forma:

Alla fine lo scialle è risultato abbastanza largo, ma non lunghissimo – devo decisamente migliorare nei calcoli di impostazione dei tessuti… – ma comunque ha le dimensioni perfette per uno scalda spalle, oppure anche avvolto attorno al collo fa un figurone ed è caldissimo… forse anche per questo non mi sono ancora sbattuta più di tanto per fotografarlo indossato…

Comunque viste le misure finali ho pensato di inserire delle frange corte su tre lati, sembrano quasi nappine, perchè così portato di sbieco ha un effetto più movimentato, insomma mi piace di più!

ORDINE, PLEASE

Che fare in una torrida giornata d’agosto, quando di lavorare a maglia proprio non se ne parla… bene mi è cascato lo sguardo sul mio angolo della lana e  GOSH!

Troppi cestini pieni e sacchetti ammassati e ferri infilzati un po’ a caso; era giunto il momento di fare ordine, e spazio soprattutto, perchè non so se l’avete scoperto anche voi ma gli oggetti aumentano e i metri quadri non crescono!

Quindi fatto posto in libreria, comprate scatole  per i filati e le fibre e faldoni per riviste e modelli, che lavoraccio ho iniziato l’altro ieri e sono solo all’inizio.

Inoltre mi sono accorta che tante creature lanose giacevano nell’oblio senza essere state postate e neppure inserite nel negozio mannaggia a me!

Quindi altro lavoro, ho inserito quasi tutto nel negozio su Etsy, mancano le ultime cose fatte e dovrebbe essere tutto aggiornato. Il bello è che ieri appena ho inserito Coral l’ho venduto – EVVIVA tra l’altro – ma sarò fulminata????

Bene, il lavoro deve procedere, torno a riordinare …

LE STORIE DELLA LINEA LILAC GLACE' (LILAC GLACE' COLLECTION STORIES)

Chiamarla addirittura "linea" di accessori mi suona altisonante, però non saprei come definirla diversamente.
Forse chi ha spulciato il blog in profondità avrà notato il primo lavoro che ho fatto con questo filato: il titolo era "una giacca in cui avvolgersi", una delle mie giacche preferite.
Da quel lavoro mi era avanzata un sacco di lana, rimasta nel baule per un po'; non sapevo cosa farne, niente mi soddisfaceva, allora quando ho iniziato a pensare al negozio online mi è tornata in mente, dato che non era mai stata usata, ed è composta da filati comunque pregiati e che ho assemblato dopo ore di riflessione...
Due fili di kid mohair del lilla più profondo ed uno di ciniglia marrone bruciato di lana morbidissima, attorcigliati insieme mi hanno fatto venire in mente un nome possibile: LILAC GLACE' (da lilla e marron glacè.... mi diverto un sacco eh già).
Ecco come sono nate, per ora, due sciarpine e un paio di guanti:

... ma ne ho ancora quindi aggiungerò a breve magari un berretto!

Ho pensato a questo tipo di accessori perchè, almeno per me, mani e collo in inverno sono le parti da scaldare di più, ma non da filati duri e pungenti... questo è davvero vellutato, quindi mi sembra l'ideale.
Ho inventato i modelli per non fare i soliti lavori piatti e lisci, quindi ho pensato alle trecce, in tutte le versioni e intrecci possibili, alle onde e alle frecce, ai rombi e alle coste, di tutto un po'!

Actually, to call it a proper collection of accessories sounds randing, but I wouldn't say how to call it differently.
Prehaps, who entered deeply in the blog may have seen the first work I kniitted with this yarn: the title was " a jacket to be wrapped in", one of my favourites.
Since then, I had a lot of spare yarn, kept in the trunk for some time; didn't know what to knit with that, nothing was satisfying, but when I started thinking of the online shop I remembered about that, especially because it was pretty new, and composed of quite precious threads that I assembled after hours of reflections...
Two threads of kid mohair, in the deepest lilac, plus one thread of the softest wool chenille in burnt brown; twisted together they suggest a possible name: LILAC GLACE'
(from lilac and marron glacè, I'm really amusing I know)
So that's how were born a couple of scarflettes/neckwarmers, and a pair of mittens:

... but I still have some more yarn, so I'll think of something more, a beret maybe.

I thought of this knid of accessories because, at least to me, in winter hands and neck are to be warmed most, though not with coarse yarns... this is really velvety, ideal then.
Then I studied patterns that weren't common plain ones, and figured out cables, in all sorts and combinations possible, and ribs, waves squares or arrows, all of a kind!

LE STORIE DI DUSK E GREEN TEA (DUSK AND GREEN TEA STORIES)

Da brava apina operosa proseguo nella raccolta delle idee che mi hanno portato a creare ogni capo che ho messo nel Negozio Virtuale su Etsy. A dirla tutta mi sento più come un cicala pentita, perchè avrei dovuto fare questo lavoro di scrittura di pari passo con quello di creazione... invece presa dall'entusiasmo mi sono lanciata nella parte più divertente e ora eccoci qui....

In questo capitoletto racconto di DUSK e GREEN TEA, che ho filato questa primavera (e mi sembra un secolo fa!)

LA STORIA DI DUSK
Questo è stato il primo filato che ho assemblato a mano, nel senso che ho preso i tre colori che lo compongono - azzurro carta zucchero, rosso mattone, lilla - e ho aperto le fibre il più possibile posizionandole una sull'altra, in modo che, una volta riunite in una massa più compatta, durante la filatura scorressero tra le dita alternandosi. Sono così contenta del risultato, anche perchè il metodo usato era assolutamente empirico, senza attrezzi per cardare, eppure è riuscito!
Poi ho lavorato una sciarpa a coste 1/1, con l'idea di farla lunga e stretta, in modo che restasse morbida anche se avvolta con tanti giri attorno al collo.

Particolari? Ho terminato le due estremità a punta a cui ho cucito due bellissime perline ovali che riprendessero i colori del filato, e finissero meglio i bordi. Le ho trovate su una babcarella ad un mercatino dell'antiquariato: sono soffiate a mano, vengono da Murano infatti, bellissime!


LA STORIA DI GREEN TEA
Di questo filato un pochino avevo già raccontato, l'ho fatto ai tempi di Cumino, con lo stesso stile; questo, pur essendo sempre di lana Corriedale, è più morbidoso e di un verde così brillante che l'ho chiamato Green Tea, perchè mi ha ricordato il colore delle foglie del te - dei germogli soprattutto - che avevo visto nelle colline piene di piantegioni in Vietnam, una meraviglia vi assicuro!
Comunque, una volta filata la lana ho pensato ad un modello che permettesse di sentirsi addosso questa morbidezza e le matasse permettevano di lavorare qualcosa di abbastanza lungo: da lì ho iniziato uno sciarpone traforato, tutto a diritto, che così risulta double-face e che poi ho unito alle due estremità a creare un enorme cerchio a maglia (avevo avviato la sciarpa con un avvio provvisorio all'uncinetto ;>). Eccola qui: come un nastro che può essere avvolto tante volte fino ad avere uno scaldacollo, oppure lasciarlo come una sciarpa attorno alle spalle...

Like a good hard-workin bee I go on with the collection of ideas that led me to create each garment I put on sale in my Etsy Shop. To say it right, I feel more like a remorese ful cicada, as I should have done this reporting in parallel withthe creation work, but instead I got immersed in the most amusing part, and here I am...

In this chapter I'll tell of what I made from DUSK and GREEN TEA, that I spun last spring (and it seems ages ago!)

DUSK STORY
This is the first yarn I assembled starting from different batts, ie. I took the single colours - cyan, brick red and lilac - and opened the fibres as much as I could putting one over another, in order to let them mix up once made compact and spun. I'm so happy with the result: colours actually change one from another, and I didn't use any carder at all!
Then I knitted a scarf, ribbed 1/1, long and narrow, so that it could feel mild even folded many times around the neck.

Any particular sign?
I finished both ends with an arrow tip shape, to which I added a couple of handblown beads (the come from Muran in fact!) I had found in an antique market, sprinkling from a counter, wonderful!


GREEN TEA STORY
I'v told a little about this yarn I spun right after Cumin, with the same style; this, though being Corriedale fiber too, is softer and such a brilliant green that I called it Green Tea; in fact, it reminds me of the gentle hills covered of tea plantations, sprouts especially, I saw in Vietnam, amazing believe me!
Anyway, once spun this yarn I thought of a pattern that could let that soft feeling, and the skeins let me knit something quite long: so I began a lacy large scarf, all rows with knit stitch so that it's double-face, that I joined by the ends to form a large loop (I had cast on the stitches with a provisional, crochet cast on ;>). Here it is: like a ribbon can be wrapped as many times to be a neckwarmer, or hung up as a scarf...

LE STORIE DI STRAWBERRY FOREST, CUMINO E AUTUNNO (STRAWBERRY FOREST, CUMIN AND AUTUMN STORIES)

CREAZIONI - INTRO....
Le prime creazioni che ho meditato sono nate contemporaneamente alle lane che per prime ho filato e di cui ho raccontato ai tempi della meravigliosa gita in Svizzera; da allora tante idee mi sono passate per la mente, nate mentre imparavo a filare.
Allora, lasciandomi trasportare dai colori e dalle sensazioni che questa nuova pratica mi ha portato, ho iniziato a studiare modelli che potessero adattarsi al meglio.

Ricordate quindi i miei primissimi filati postati?

Cumin...
Autumn...

Cominciamo dall'inizio:

LA STORIA DI STRAWBERRY FOREST
L'idea originale è partita da uno scaldacollo, lavorato in tondo, tutto a rovescio con due incroci 1/1 a diritto che procedono in diagonale e danno un effetto a spirale che sale per tutta la lunghezza. Il filato era già abbastanza spesso di suo, quindi non ho caricato troppo la lavorazione a maglia. Poi, una volta finito, ho pensato che poteva essere regolato per aderire bene al collo con un bottone che si infilasse tra le maglie senza bisogno di asole... bene indossandolo mi è rimasto in testa come un berretto e allora da lì il gioco è stato facile: ho provato tutti i modi in cui poteva essere girato e rigirato ed ecco qua!



LA STORIA DI CUMINO
Ho filato questa lana più sottile, quindi le matasse sono risultate più lunghe, per forza! Allora ho pensato di lavorare qualcosa di più corposo di una semplice sciarpa, una stola forse... e invece arrivata a metà ho decidso di montare un poncho, diviso in due pezzi cuciti poi sul davanti... i dettagli del punto in realtà li avevo già postati, quindi cercate gente cercate ...


LA STORIA DI AUTUNNO
Questo è il classico filato caldo e morbido in cui fa piacere avvolgersi... quindi ho pensato di realizzare uno scialle ideale per scaldare spalle, collo etc. L'ho lavorato a maglia rasata perchè era già abbastanza spesso e ho aggiunto solo un bordo all'uncinetto per finirlo meglio, così quando le punte si arrotolano l'effetto è ancora più carino!
Mi è rimasta ancora metà della lana e quindi studierò qualcos'altro da lavorare...vediamo cosa mi evoca ancora l'autunno.

(CREATIONS - INTRODUCTION...)
The first creations I made were born together with the very first yarns I spun, of which I told after my gorgeous trip to Switzerland; since then many ideas came to my mind, while I learnt to spin.
So, letting myself be driven by colours and sensations that this new practice brought to me, I started thinking of patterns that could best adapt to it.

I'll tell the story from the beginning:

STRAWBERRY FOREST STORY
My original idea was of a neckwarmer, knitted in round all in reverse stocking stitch with only two diagonal cables 1/1 spirlaing up along the length; the yarn itself was quite thick, so I didn't work too much on the pattern. Then, once tried on, I thought of tightening it by the chin, and I inserted a button, to be fixed between the stitches, without any buttonhole. Wearing it it got stuck like ahat and I thought "why not?2
The game was started, as may uses I could think of were tried!

CUMIN STORY
I spun this yarn thinner than before, and so the skeins came out longer, of course!
Hence I thought of knitting something bigger than a scarf, a stole perhaps... but when I was in the middle of it, I decided to build a light poncho, made of two parts sewn together. Actually I've already written about the pattern, so search people search...

AUTUMN STORY
This is the classic soft and warm yarn in which you'd like to get wrapped... so I thought of knitting a shawl to fold shoulders, neck etc. I worked it in stocking stitch, as it was already quite bulky; only added a crocheted edge to give a better finishing, and in this way when the end twist on themselves it's even nicer!
I still have enough yarn to knit something else... let's see what autumn evokes to my mind this time.

Dopo un lungo lavoro di preparazione dei modelli, realizzazione dei capi, scelta delle foto e delle descrizioni, presentazioni varie etc. ECCOMI QUI, CHE IL SOGNO ABBIA INIZIO.

Ho aperto un mio negozio online su Etsy, il portale dedicato a tutto quanto può essere comprato o venduto online, rigorosamente FATTO A MANO. Il sito nasce negli Stati Uniti, dove c'è una enorme comunità di utenti, ma è aperto a chi voglia comprare o vendere in tutto il mondo. Ci si trova di tutto, vale davvero la pena di una visita per curiosare un po'.

Lì potrete trovare capi fatti a mano da me, con miei filati, provenienti solo da fibre naturali, riciclate o recuperate; ho pensato che in questo modo ogni filo mantiene una memoria di tutte le sue forme e "vite" precedenti, e diventa ancora più confortevole da indossare...
Gioco soprattutto con materiali e colori, in modo che cardare, filare e lavorare a maglia diventino lo strumento attraverso cui le sfumature dei filati possano esprimere quello che intendevo e soprattutto lo facciano sentire a chi li indossa.

Posso ovviamente fare lavori su richiesta, a partire dai modelli presenti in vetrina, o inventandone insieme altri: basta che mi scriviate una mail o un commento sul blog e ci accorderemo; sto infatti selezionando qualche produttore da cui ordino le fibre da filare, quindi volendo possiamo stabilire insieme anche i colori e materiali... anche se a quel punto i tempi di consegna si allungano un po'. Ci proviamo!


Che dire di altro, non saprei, presto vedrete storie e antefatti dietro ai modelli che ho realizzato!

FINALLY!
After a long job of preparing patterns, knitting garments, choosing pictures, various presentations etc. HERE I AM, LET THE DREAM BEGIN.
I opened an online shop on Etsy, the main website devoted to buying and selling handmade thing. It was born in the US, where there's a huge community of users, but it's open woldwide. There you can find almost anything you could imagine, it's really worth peering at.

There you may find all items are 100% handmade: I personally choose materials and techniques to create the best garments I can.
I prefer to use natural, eco-friendly fibres, or even recycled and recovered ones, because I think they shall bring a memory of their previous shapes, lives and uses and therefore could be more comfortable to wear.
I take particular care in choosing colours: carding, spinning and knitting then are conduced to let fibres shades express what I meant, and wish you to feel wearing a garment.

You may order custom patterns, starting from the ones shown, or we shall invent some other together: don't hesitate emailing me or leaving a comment here. In fact, I'm selecting some producer which I order fleeces from, so we'll have the possibility to choose even colour and fibre... well in that case delivery time will therefore get longer... I'll try.
