BLU, BLU, BLU BLUEBERRY

Here are the ohtos of my BLUEBERRY poncho, that I finished a few time ago, though I didn't make it render inside home, other times I wore it but didn't have a camera with me, so here it is.
I knitted it in round with circular needle (n°8 Knit Picks Harmony that are absolutely great), starting from the neck in garter stitch, with 2 stitches in stocking stitch at half and the end of the row; then I proceeded in reverse stocking stitch increasing 1 new stitch before and after the 2 stitches in stocking stitch every two rows. After nearly 15cm I continued in garter stitch, increasing every 4 rows. After 20 cm more, I knitted again in reverse stocking stitch for about 15cm. As a band, I didn't fancy fringes, so I knitted an I-cord border: Knitted two rows in garter stitch, then every 5 stitche in reverse stitch, I knitted 5 stitches in one (through back and front), and then cast them off, to come back by the border, and so on.
Here are a couple of pictures of the details: about the measures, I started from the neck, considering a comfortable one, of 28 cm diameter, then after a few attemps I found the right proportions for the increasings; the final lenghts is about 60cm.
It's great to wear in this season instead of a jacket...

Outside the spring is shining, but I was looking forward to chase a little spot where to write a bit, as I had to keep away from the blog and my knitting for a while: I was in Spain for my job, and I took my laptop to write from there during breaks, and checked in my luggage to take the needles on the plane (I wouldn't have been allowed, they're sharp weapons you know...)... but it was useless, I didn't have internet connection in my room, and almost no spare time at all. So I come home really missing my knitting, it was 11.00pm and, surprise and luck: what do I find above my postbox?
An unmistakeable parcel from the UK saying STASH FINE YARNS OF CHESTER: my order has arrived, super quickly!
I ordered Summer Tweed di Rowan , to knit a light pull for myself; it's amazing, made of 70%cotton and 30% silk, I chose OATS nuance, in which the silk gives a beautiful brghtness an shininess. Now I'll study a pattern to give it value.

ULTIMI FIOCCHI DI NEVE... (THE LAST SNOWFLAKES...)

Haven't written much recently, this month of April is definitely panting to me: when it should be time to enjoy the will for sleeping, I must run, run, and run. Actually that is not in my nature, my mind is always moving, but my moves are just relaxed and I have always thought to have a different gear from this hasty world.
So I feel annoyed when I'm obliged to frantic engagements, that make me neglect my little passions.
After that, recently I haven't knitted much too, though I have obediently finished almost all my works hanging on, such as:
- the socks
- my husband's pullover
- the poncho
- Mobius' experiment

Now I keep spinning, that really makes me mad, so I'm sipping it slowly not to end it until I'll go, by the end of the month, on a trip to Switzerland, where I found a place that seem a wonderland: the have sheeps, a factory, weavers, rovings, spinning wheels...

Actually I'm starting also a pair of fingerless mittens with the yarn I bought on Etsy with the roving; it's handpainted with marvellous brilliant colours, and the pattern is Spyrogira from Knitty.

Now you may think, what does the title have to do with what I wrote up to now? Nothing!!

That's not true at all, my idea was to write about a scarf I adore, but I got lost among my thoughts. So, it's a scarf I'm wearing in these last cool moments of this spring, I called it SNOWFLAKE don't know which was the original name; I didn't knit it, I just bought it at the World Shop (note: it's the Fair Trade Shop of the cooperative I work for). It comes from Uruguay, it's handmade by women who wouldn't have had access to traditional market, and who, thanks to a fair trade project, now can be indipendent, let their children study, receive a proper wage and work with dignity.

The wool is chunky and bumby, very soft, seems made of whipped cream; the scarf is very simple, knitted in ribs 1/1, quite narrow and long, so as to wrap it in thousands spirals, I adore it!

Sunday evening, the best moment for me to write and think, before going to bed, with next week plans in my head.
Actually I thought that when I began to work on this blog, I was a bit anxious to let people know every knitted work I made at the best, precisely; but reading again what came out in the following months, and above all listening to what bumps in my head, I realized that I had the greatest satisfaction the times I released something about myself, maybe through knit works, 'cause in fact it is an important part of my life, but leaving between the lines thoughts and facts that I had never thought to convey openly.
So, perhaps because recently my Gemini ascendant, I believe that I wouldn't like to write punctually only about knitting, I believe sometimes I'd like not to write at all for a while, or to do it especially for myself and not to convey my stuff, or simply write to express the thousand faces I carry.
Perplexed I understand, and I know that actually this has already happened so far, I just wanted to explain to myself first and to justify me to talk to the world and to myself. Well, I understood, and sometimes I'll read again this post just to remember this.
Anyway, to continue exhuming my old works, today it's the turn of TRICOLOR: HAT-CAP-MITTENS, so overworn that are ruined, full of bumps, but I still wear them now and then. I'm writing the pattern to download, soon I hope!

STO FILANDO! (I'M SPINNING!)

--------------------

Incredible, eventually this week my package has arrived; I bought it on Etsy, from Pancake and Lulu. After nearly a month, in which I discovered it was blocked by italian customs (possible?) here it si: I chose this kit after a long search, it's made of a Drop Spindle, instructions and a roving.
I stared at this stuff with concern and yesterday took some time to start; the first attempts were embarassing, the spindle falling on every side, the wool would break, twist and form bumps... i got a bit depressed, but today I took up everything a slowly I'M SPINNING!
Actually I thought that when I first handled a couple of needles even knit and purls were huge obstacles!
So here are my first results, I'm excited and looking forward for it to be ready, and knit it to see how it behaves...
