The story of my trip to the Wool Kingdom goes on. Thi week the most difficult task was to choose which photos to post, among the hundreds I have; first of all, I must thank Marika because I was so excited that I kept running from one side to the other of this huge wooden room full of fibers, tools, books and dyes, and actually didn't take any picture at all.
So now what I meant gets clearer:
You enter this huge room, and find a long row of wooden boxes filled with fleeces dyed or not, to be carded and mixed, with the explanation of the animal they come from (Mohair - Angora - Merino - Alpaca -Corriedale - Shropshire....); here they are.

I still have many more, guess I'll publish them on Flickr, otherwise this post gets longer than a poem. The only thing I'm sorry for is that I can't render completely what I felt touching those fibers; each was different: some were rough and coarse, others were impalpable and silky, some shiny and others still greasy.
I didn't imagine I could be struck like that, and I'd never thought that behind a simple passion, as knitting is, I could find such a wide and pied world. I'm moved to discover always something new about fibers and their treatment, the spinning and dyeing, and this all is beyond knitting itself.
Above all, this makes me want to find out even more... must admit that I'm overcome with handling fleeces, learning to dye and spin them, my beloved knitting won't be abandoned, I know it can wait, now it's time to play.
